Scot Vehill

Artistic Director

Scott Vehill is a director, producer and writer. As a founder and Artistic Director of Prop Thtr Group, he has worked in some capacity in all its 100 plus shows, over 21 seasons. As a producer he has worked with Arts Festival- Atlanta, Annie Sprinkle, Blue Man Group, Second City, Organic Theatre, The Mexican Fine Arts Museum, Paul Krassner, Steppenwolf, Chicago Park District, The Field Museum, Court T.V., The WB, The Museum of Contemporary Art, Prof. Irwin Corey, A.I.M. the InterAct Theatre Co. and the Curious and Practical Theatres to name a few. As a screenwriter he has written scripts for McNaughton Jones Motion Picture, D.J. International, Celozzi Media and Vigilante Films. He helped start the National New Play Network, a consortium of new play theatres from around the country. He is currently planning Prop's 22 season where he will direct Struggling Truths by Peter Mellencamp, the world premiere of Sounds of Silents, the Essanay Story by Paul Peditto and an off Broadway production of Now Dig This...the Terry Southern Show! by Charles Pike. He began principle photography in December on "Vato Maldito" a documentary about a legendary Latino criminal.


Stefan Brun
Co-Founder & Co-Artistic Director

Stefan brun is co-founder and co-artistic director of
Prop Thtr. He was director for recent hits like HIZZONER, WAITING FOR
GODOT
, and FEMALE SEEKING A MALE. He also is resident director of
Scrap METTLE Soul. From the mid 80s through the 90s, Stefan worked as
director in Germany for both stage and television. Since then he has
married Jenny Magnus and with their daughter, Lena, they work and
reside in Chicago. Stefan seeks to promote and enable the composition
and production of new work as well as the reduction of fear.


Whit Spurgeon
Administrative Director

Whit Spurgeon has infested Chicago stages since 1990, most recently as Myron in the Jeff Recommended Awake and Sing at Timeline Theatre. Other credits include numerous Prop shows including 1001 Afternoons in Chicago, Sawdust & Spangles (Jeff Citation for Best New Work), Raising Blue and Small Potatoes. He's been in 2 world premiers by Rebecca Gilman, The Glory of Living and Crime of the Century, both Jeff Citation winners for Best Production. He's appeared in several television commercials locally and regionally.
